To Do this Weekend- Picnic by the Water

My husband has the best ideas sometimes. Last night, with no plans for dinner in sight, he suggested grabbing some deli takeout and picnicking at the marina across from the deli. I'm all for alfresco dining, especially when the weather is beautiful and mild like it's been this week. Plus, there's just something about being near the water that just adds to the whole picnic experience.

The marina park we went to sits on Tampa Bay in Safety Harbor. I'm so in love with their downtown area and the fact that the residents actively support its businesses. This is one of the places I have my eye on when we go to move. The other is Dunedin, Florida. But that's a post for another day.

No, not sharks- DOLPHINS! I'm such a dork. I still get excited when I see dolphins playing and will stop to watch them every time. The fact that people were walking by, either oblivious or unimpressed, just stuns me.  I know it's a fairly common thing to see in Florida, but some things are worth a moment of awe.

Checkin' Things Out

My guys checking out things and seeing what they see. It was low tide, so the water had receded considerably. I love taking pictures of them together.

Cloud 9

Saw this and was reminded of Michelle from Cicada Studio. She and a former colleague are preparing to launch Cloud9 Fabrics, a fabric manufacturing company that is environmentally responsible in both its materials and printing methods.

Safety Harbor Marina

The marina, along with the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa in the background. This luxury resort is known for its natural mineral springs that are used for the resort's spa treatments, guest pools, and the facility's drinking water. Perhaps some day I'll be able to write a blog post about my weekend there. ;)

So skip the cooking and cleaning up this weekend- grab some takeout and head for the water, whether it's an ocean or stream and enjoy a relaxing meal with your crew, be it family or friends.

Have a great weekend!

Take care,

Nic

I love the photo of your guys together! And what a wonderful way to spend dinner. Also, not for nothing, but I'd probably get excited too every time I spotted a dolphin. I'm so easily amused...
