Things I'm Lovin'

An eclectic mix of items, but all things I wanted to share.

1- I'm friends with a Seahorse-

Herbie Hippocampus on Facebook

Herbie Hippocampus is a seahorse at the Monterey Bay Aquarium (l-o-v-e that aquarium) that has his own Facebook page.  I first heard about animals having Facebook pages on NPR.  It's a way to personalize the creatures, build awareness and educate the public about the animals, the facilities, etc.  So cute. So clever.

2-Jill made it happen
Jill Sobule wanted to make a record.  When she couldn't get a recording deal, she went to the fans for help. Jill's Next Record is a site she created for fans to donate towards producing her record. She adopted a tiered donation scheme, similar to those used by non-profit groups, with special gifts and privileges awarded based on donation levels. And it worked.  The new album is called California Years. There are many lessons to be learned from this chick about dreams, ingenuity, marketing, etc.

3. This flip flop shoe rack-

Flip Flop Shoe Rack

Originally Tweeted about by Coastal Living, I just fell in love when I saw this! How fun for a beach house? Okay, technically you could put any shoes you want on them, but I love how this becomes wall art when you add the flip flops. Available for order here.

I'll try to post a few more things later, but work is calling for now...

Take care,
Nic

Wow. I listed to Jill Sobule in high school (more than 15 years ago), what a flashback. I loved her stuff back then. I'll have to give this one a try.

And now I want a seahorse of my very own. Right here, in my home. I suppose they're a lot of work though.
