My Little Devil

Halloween 1979

This is me and my two brothers thirty years ago. We're wearing Halloween costumes my Grandma Pritzel made for us. She was a seamstress who could sew ANYTHING. In fact, she pretty much rocked on all the domestic fronts- she always had baked sweets on hand when we came to visit, kept an amazing garden that took up the entire back yard and fried the best damn crappie fish. She died of cancer when I was nine. I'm sorry that I didn't get to spend more time with her, but I think of her often, especially when gardening or sewing.

My Little Devil

And this is my son, Jack. He's going as the devil, wearing the costume my grandma made for my brother Adam thirty years ago. I'm so excited.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween this weekend!

Take care,
Nic

P.S.This was my son five minutes after I put the headpiece on him.

The Little Devil Isn't Happy

How long do you suppose it'll last Saturday night?

Love it. I remember growing up that costumes were hand made with love and creativity. So much better than those cheap ones you get from the store. How fantastic it must be to pass down a costume.

Thanks for commenting! I really am thrilled to be using the costumes my grandma made. I'm going to have to kick up my sewing skills when he gets older because I hate those store bought costumes! Happy Halloween!
