I love doodle exercises and lately I’m seeing a ton of books full of these creativity exercises, but I often find they’re a little too “filled in” for me. Perhaps some folks like having this additional creativity help, but I feel like it squashes my creativity when the exercise pages are too complete or when I’m given too many instruction. Give me some guidelines, some suggestions, and then let me go off on my own to play and experiment.
Which is why I came up with this “Fill In the Blobs” doodle sheet. Above is the blank one that I created (and that you can click on and print out for personal or classroom use) and below are some experiments of mine using it.
Here I just filled in the blobs using a black pen. I filled it in while watching TV, waiting in car line for the kiddo, winding down at bedtime, etc. Then I scanned it into my computer and started playing with coloring it in digitally in Adobe Illustrator.
So have fun! I’d love to what you think of this page and what you come up with, so share your creations in a blog post, take an Instagram picture and tag me in it or post it on my Three By Sea Facebook page! And let me know if you’d like to see more pages like this!
