Ikea’s fun, Scandi designs and affordable prices rock my world. Even if you’re not a fan of the DIY, wait, what? I have to build my own couch? approach to their furniture, they still have awesomesauce oozing out of that gigantic blue island of a store.
Like all the design inspiration on display that makes me want to move into their showrooms. I could live on their Swedish meatballs with extra lingonberries and lemon sandwich cookies (available only in the summer months.)
Below are just a few of the Ikea-inspired display and organization ideas I’ve incorporated throughout my home.
Here I used their DIGNITET Curtain Wire and some mini bulldog clips to create a hanging art gallery for rotating photos and artwork in our hallway. Fifteen feet of hanging space for roughly $15? Uh, yes, please!
A while back I saw this great idea on OhDeeDoh for using the magnetic knife holders from Ikea to hang/store toy cars in a kid’s room. I love when storage ideas make for brilliant decor, so on my Ikea shopping list the GRUNDTAL Magnetic Knife Racks went.
Except today’s Matchbox and Hot Wheels have silver painted, PLASTIC undercarriages, as I discovered once I got the knife racks home.
So much for that idea.
Instead I took some big metal washers and, viola!, the knife strips became more photo and art displays!
(BTW- that “thank you” postcard came with this a-mazing print by Jess Swift, and my son was THRILLED that I let him keep the card!)
Here are some inexpensive VAGGIS Noticeboards I use for hanging and organizing my book rings of notecards-
And finally, their SPONTAN Magazine Rack, hung where the magazines really end up-
All this cool, stylish display and organization, and all for under $50. THAT’S why I love Ikea, dude!
