The above is a swatch from Linda Solovic’s new fabric collection, Flutter, featured on print & pattern last week. While the color scheme is totally not me, I dig the idea of the pattern.
I love how she took a simple circle motif but created variety by designing 32 different circles. Simplicity of shape and layout meets visual interest in color, pattern, design, etc.
What a cool idea to try, no?
What if you took a theme and tried creating your own set of circle designs? Flower doodles, foods you ate this week, animal faces, geometric designs, hand drawn letters, bottle caps, things from your day, etc….
I’m working on ideas for an ocean mural at my front door, so I’ve got ocean designs on the brain lately. I decided to do some circles with bits and pieces of ocean animals and coral.
The cool thing about creativity is that one idea can spawn even more. Doing this now makes me want to dig out my acrylic paints (something I haven’t done in for-ev-er) and play with this bits and pieces of the ocean idea.
So how about it? Wanna play with some circles? If so, click here for a download & print page of circles with a light gray grid pattern background.
Have fun and let me know what you decide to circle doodle!
