My great-grandmother collected Fiestaware. My mother collects Fiestaware. And now, finally, so do I.
For years I’ve been in love with Fiestaware’s bright colors and Art Deco design. These dishes are sort of a housewarming gift to ourselves for when we move (hopefully by the end of the year), so the dishes are sitting in their boxes until then.
(Say “hello” to Turquoise, Sunflower, Peacock, Lemongrass and Tangerine!)
It’s hard to see them like this. We need to move soon.
We bought the dishes from Kohl’s because they ended up being 50% off when you opened a charge card. (SCORE!) But to see (and fondle) the full range of products available, Macy’s is where it’s at! I need to stay out of their store and off their website…oh, the damage I could do!
I have this vision of taking out some of the kitchen cabinets in our new house and replacing them with shelves so I see my dishes all day, every day, kind of like this-
I love dishes as decor, especially now that we have beautiful, colorful dishes to display versus what’s left of Honey’s outdated Corelle and my knockoff Fiestaware from our single days.
(I’m holding onto a couple of those Corelle dishes for Little Man though. It might be outdated, but damn if it doesn’t stand up pretty well to a two-year-old, especially one that likes to “help” by chucking placing his dishes into the sink when he’s finished.)
So how about it? Are you a Fiestaware fanatic or completely indifferent?
