“Nothing is a waste of time if you use the experience wisely.”
-Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) French sculptor
I hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. I saw online that many of you were using the extended weekend to labor over new projects. I spent much of the weekend laboring as well, even if I only ended up with life lessons to show for it…
The better part of my weekend was spent starting the process of moving my website to WordPress. I signed up for things, exported, imported, installed, configured, read, researched…and eventually realized that I was in WAY over my head.
In the end, after talking with an online friend about my dilemma (Thank you, Cameron!!) and looking at my goals for Three By Sea, I’ve abandoned my plans for now to migrate to WordPress and decided to rework my current website. I’ll still have to learn some HTML and CSS coding, but I keep a functioning website as my starting base. I look at it as a wiser return on investment (of my time), as it allows me to continue creating content and products for Three By Sea while still working to improve the website.
The hardest part of the weekend was feeling like I had wasted so much of a limited resouce (my time), but my husband reminded me not to look at it that way. He said, “You learned something from the experience, so now you move on.” And he’s right. Even though I have nothing tangible to show for this weekend of work, the experience helped further clarify my vision and goals for Three By Sea, as well as show me that I already have most of the tools I need to make them happen.
So lesson learned. Moving on and moving forward…
