Yesterday was shaping up to be one of those crap days where I felt like I wasn’t getting anything done. I didn’t like where certain things were heading, I was procrastinating on other things I needed to do, etc.
In the midst of my frustration, J. (my two-year-old) comes to announce some minor accomplishment of his, squawking excitedly, “I di’ it! I di’ it!” (“I did it! I did it!”) His excitement always makes me laugh, especially when it’s something I don’t necessarily want him to do, like get his own snacks down from the shelf, outsmart the childproof lock on the freezer to score ice cream or find the box of Tic Tacs in my purse.
And his enthusiasm did get me thinking- instead of stressing over what I wasn’t getting done, maybe I should be focusing on what I “Did Do” today.
So I made these colorful “I DID IT! I DID IT!!” Did Do lists last night. And I made them to share with you. Because some days we need to remind ourselves of what we did right today, rather than what we think we failed at, fell behind on, or couldn’t get to today.
Click on the image above to download and print some for yourself. Keep them on hand for those days or weeks when you need a little “Yay for Me!” reminder, or even just to keep track of what you’re accomplishing each day. Sometimes keeping track of your accomplishments can help you set more realistic goals and avoid those feelings of inadequacy and frustration to begin with!
And when I actually took stock of my day, I accomplished more than I realized.
*I finished a tea towel calendar design, uploaded it, and ordered a sample for possible sale in the shop this fall.
*I finished a pattern design for my 100 Surface Designs project.
*I blogged my latest pattern design.
*I listed a new product in my shop.
*I got my house 75% clean for the company that’s arriving today.
*I created this “Did Do” list to share with everyone.
Created a new product, listed a new product, created new designs, blogged, created a free printable to share & tended to the house? Guess who suddenly doesn’t feel like such a loser?
I’m also thinking I need to start an end of the week, “check me out, I rock” celebration post where everyone can share all the great things they DID do this week.
Have a great weekend and remember to celebrate what you DID DO!!
