I tried almond milk for the first time this week. It was…interesting. I mean, it tasted just like almonds and milk, which is why it tasted…interesting. It was good; I just don’t know if it’s something I could drink on a regular basis straight out of the carton.
But then I had an idea…
I also have a three pound container of cherries and a big box of raspberries in my fridge thanks to my inability to say no to a good deal on fruit at Costco last weekend. We’ve been munching on berries every day since then because I refuse to let any go to waste.
And it turns out that…
Almond Milk + Berries + Other Things = Kick Ass Smoothie FULL of all kinds of Antioxidant Goodness!
Here’s my little concoction:
Cherry Berry Add Some Dairy Smoothie
Handful of raspberries (1/4 to 1/2 cup)
Handful of pitted cherries (1/4 to 1/2 cup)
Squeeze of honey
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup greek yogurt
Two handfuls of ice
WHIRR, WHIRR, WHIRR in the blender for a bit and you have enough for two smoothie shakes.
You could give one to your offspring if you wanted, which I did. Nevermind the fact the child is making me want to spike my smoothie today, but that’s another story and another recipe to discover and share.
Got any other good smoothie recipes to share?
