In life, you make mistakes, you learn from them, you move forward. Sometimes though, you have to go back and fix those mistakes. Like with this blog. I originally started it on another hosting site and uploaded blog post pictures directly to the host site. It made posting pics quick and easy, however, if you ever export your blog to another site, you lose your photo links when you shut down (quit paying for) the original site, like I plan on doing.
Instead, I’ve been paying for two hosting sites for the past six or so months until I got around to fixing the problem. Pretty stupid, eh? (And yes, I know Blogger is free, but I want to be able to create a website, not just have a blog, hence the reason I’m here at Squarespace.) Anyways, I can’t pay for two blogs forever. Eventually I need to fix my newbie mistakes, so I’m relinking all my blog photos to my Flickr account. That way if I decide to move again, I’ll still have my picture links.
It. is. te.di.ous.
But I made the decision today to focus on just this one thing. It was hard (I have a touch of the ADD, I think), but it felt good to put all my energy towards this one problem. It’s been nagging at me, as well as costing me money, so giving it my undivided attention allowed me to quiet that nagging voice a bit. I had hoped to get further along, but it turned out fixing this simple (albeit time-consuming) problem ended up unearthing other problems and boo boos I made while tinkering with my blog in the past. One of these days I’ll finally figure out what the hell I’m doing on this blog! (Learning some HTML code might help if I’m going to fiddle with things too-LOL!)
Live and learn, huh?
What project is nagging for your attention?
