I love going to the farmer’s market. So many yummy things that require so little prep, perfect for hot summer days when you don’t feel much like cooking. Not to mention, farmer’s markets are such a pleasant way to shop for food, as opposed to freezing your butt off in a grocery store!
Over the next few days, the berries will go into smoothies; the mango, avocados, tomatoes, jalepeno, and red onion will become some Mango Avocado Tomato Salsa that we’ll snack on or use in a salad; the corn and sweet potato will be served as sides with the delicious BBQ I picked up after my trip to the market.
That pineapple just might end up in this pina colada recipe. It sounds quite tasty for a lazy Sunday afternoon. (You do know if you whack the top off a pineapple, you can plant it, and it’ll grow another one?!)
Here’s to fresh food and lazy summer days to enjoy it,
**On a completely unrelated note, while taking the above photo, I was playing with the white balance on my point and shoot camera. The above photo was taken with the ‘sunlight’ setting and the photo below was shot on a ‘flourescent’ setting.
I like the brighter colors in this photo, but I think I still prefer the first photo with its warm tones. There is a nostalgic feel to it that just seems more inviting somehow.
