The following are items that I’ve made or purchased recently. I’m in love with all of these items and thought I’d share my finds with my fellow parental peeps.

Makes 40-48 Powerballs
Mix together 1 cup peanut butter and 1 cup honey until smooth.
Gradually add in 3 cups old fashioned oats and 1/2 cup ground flaxseed.
Add 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 cup any combination of nuts and soft
dried fruit(try 1/2 cup coarsely chopped peanuts and 1/4 cup each of
raisins and dried cranberries) and mix gently in your stand mixer or
smush together by hand.
Roll into Ping-Pong-size balls and, for maximum presentation value,
put in paper mini muffin cups. You can eat them right away, but they’ll
be less sticky after a night in the fridge. They freeze well too,
layered on wax paper in an airtight container.
My notes- I used a combination of chunky and smooth peanut butter. I only used a 1/2 cup of chocolate chips, as a cup was just too much (and I love chocolate chips!). For the dried fruits and nuts, I used a cherry berry mix and chopped pecans- so good! And I skipped the mini muffin cups and just put them in Tupperware containers in the fridge.
I don’t get excited by appliances. My husband was told early on in our dating that appliances as birthday, anniversary, or Christmas gifts was a big “Oh, Hell No!” You need it, you go buy it, just like cleaning supplies. You wouldn’t stick a bottle of toilet bowl cleaner in my stocking (not if you wanted to stay married), so why would sticking an appliance under the tree addressed to ME be okay? Having said all that, I do love this little floor vac.
I needed something to vacuum the wood and tile floors in my house, and I’m so over the sweep, then Swiffer routine. I have a cat who sheds like it’s her job, a dog that lays in the dirt outside and comes in to deposit it, and a 14-month-old who is launching food from his tray as his new past time. This little puppy is only $35 at Target right now, is rated 4.5 stars with 64 reviews, and rocks at cleaning floors, as well as sucking pet fur off the couch. Oh, and it’s cordless (easy to pull out and put away), with the option to hang the whole thing on the wall to recharge or just the battery pack. For the price and performance, this vacuum is A-Mazing.
I think I have found the Holy Grail of non-spill sippy cups! After countless purchases of crap cups that end up abandoned around the house by my son, only to leak all over the floor, an area rug, or my couch, I was ready to pull my hair out. Then Frank (my awesome husband) found these cups while we were at Target. And guess what? No. More. Spills. Child decides to toss the cup? That’s ok- it doesn’t break, have a lid pop off, or leak. Cup falls over? Again, no leaks. If you turn the cup over and shake really hard, a few drops of liquid will sprinkle, but it is minimal, and you really have to shake it. The fact that they’re insulated is just a bonus feature for me. I found these at Target on Saturday, but when I went online to find a link, I couldn’t find them on their website, so they may be an in-store purchase only. Trust me, they’re worth finding!
This stroller is awesome. I’d list the reasons I love it and all its cool features, but it’s easier just to watch this video from Baby Gizmo. The video goes through all the features and why their editors gave it five stars. The quick fold and carry aspect is what sold me. I’ve never seen a stroller collapse so easy and quickly. Add to it the fact you can fold it and toss it in the car while holding a child, and I’m telling you, you will love it. As far as the negative qualities, Baby Gizmo wished the stroller stood up on its end when closed, and I do wish your child could sit more upright in it. However, the pros far outweigh the cons. I only wish we had found this sooner- like before we went to Disney and had to haul our old piece of crap stroller on and off public transportation every day! It also has all sorts of convenient accessories, although you can find some of them cheaper through other manufacturers.
I hope you found some of these things useful, either for yourself or other parents that you know! If you have any great products that you would like to share, feel free to leave a comment!
